David Baldwin

David Baldwin currently leads energy transition initiatives at SCF Partners and is former Co-President of the firm. He has supported the creation and development of multiple public energy service companies since joining SCF in 1993. Early in his career, as an engineer with Union Pacific Resources, David was involved in developing and commercializing the horizontal drilling techniques that led to the “shale revolution.” David is also the co-founder of OpenMinds, a non-profit dedicated to next-decade progress against the Dual Energy and Climate Challenge, powered by a network of 100+ experts across diverse industries, nonprofits, academia, and philanthropy. David’s civic leadership includes Baylor College of Medicine, Greentown Labs, and The Center for Pursuit. He also helped create TEX-E, a non-profit partnership with MIT that identifies and trains future climate and energy entrepreneurs and leaders. In 2018, David received the Hoover Medal of Honor for his lifetime of volunteerism assisting persons with intellectual disabilities. David earned his degree in Petroleum Engineering and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

He oversees the research department which provides data analysis and economic forecasting for the Partnership. His observations and analysis on the local, regional and U.S. economic trends have appeared in over 200 newspapers, magazines, radio and television broadcasts.

Mark A. Wallace was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Children’s Hospital in 1989 at the age of 36.
